27 September to 10 January a 2015
Le Cube is presenting a number of video creations by Yi Zhou, a Chinese multimedia artist with an extraordinary career. Yi Zhou is an artist with a difference in the international art scene. In only a few years, she has succeeded in establishing her style with works that have appeared in all the major international exhibitions and biennials, including the 2011 Venice Biennial. Although a painter and sculptor, she developed masterly skill in animation and the 3-D videos that have become her trademark. Yi Zhou is fascinated by beauty, and her works are inspired by her dreams and nightmares, which she mingles with poetry, mythology, Chinese literature and personal memories. She regularly collaborates with artists from a variety of backgrounds, including Charlotte Gainsbourg, Air, Ennio Morricone and Pharrell Williams. A multicultural polyglot artist who divides her life between Paris, London, Shanghai, Italy and the US, Yi Zhou sees herself as “a bridge between West and East”.
This exhibition is staged as part of “France-Chine 50” in partnership with the CHINEurope Association and Poé Consulting.
